Following a powerful premiere in March 2024 and an official public launch in August 2024, Unconditional has been viewed by audiences across Australia and continues to make an impact. Produced as part of a PhD creative work, Unconditional has sparked important conversations around carer awareness, advocacy, and social responsibility.

National Screenings and Carers Week 2024

As part of National Carers Week 2024, Unconditional was screened at a wide range of government departments, community organisations, and public cinema venues, reaching diverse audiences and prompting meaningful dialogue. Screenings so far included:

    • Department of Employment & Workplace Relations
    • Department of Home Affairs
    • Office of National Intelligence
    • Australian Public Service Commission
  • Carers Week Cinema Screenings
    • Tasmania: Hosted by Carers Tasmania at cinemas in Davenport, Launceston, and Glenorchy
    • Canberra: Hosted by Carers ACT at Palace Cinema, Acton
    • Queensland: Hosted by Carers Queensland at Red Hill Cinema

Community and Organisational Screenings

  • Department of Communities WA
  • Uniting LAC NSW
  • Transport Canberra and City Services
  • Medibank Carer Network, Melbourne
  • St. James Anglican, Holt, ACT hosted a community screening followed by a robust panel discussion that included the participants from the film, the filmmaker, her PhD supervisor and a local carer
  • Kiama Anglican Church, NSW hosted two screenings with a Q&A with the filmmaker The screenings resulted in a beautiful outcome. See here!

Unconditional continues to be available free to carers via the dedicated carer link on the website, further supporting accessibility and impact.

These events brought carers, community members, and decision-makers together to reflect on the film’s powerful themes, sparking dialogue and shared understanding.

What’s Next?

  • Educational resources and discussion guides are in development to support increased awareness of carers in workplaces
  • New screening opportunities are being scheduled for National Carers Week 2025. More to come on that soon.
